For a project that is 14 months late, I have detected no whining in the last few posts, just legitimate questions. Not one of those questions impugn Ben's dedication to detail and perfection. But, for the most part, in the last 14 months the boys from Chicago have held their cards close, very close indeed. They have said many times how much they appreciate the forbearance of the backers but have not, up to this time, seemed inclined to show that appreciation by regular weekly communication about the progress or snags encountered in completion of said project.
Finally, if, as Ben has said, an 'Update' is a complicated and time consuming affair then at least a weekly post on this forum could be welcomed by backers. This forum was where, after all, on 10-Feb-2012, Ben first introduced the possibility of this camera, to much enthusiastic support.
From John, sitting in the very moderate climate of the Puget Sound region.
I know the lack of updates is frustrating—know that we're trying, and there's a lot to attend to. And there is certainly always forward momentum.
Re: AC and relative humidity—if we can fix the issue by switching to a new Nylon, I'd rather just do it than find out 6 months later that the focusing helical is freezing up in humid environments.
Keep it up, Ben! I am with you all the way!
Ben,
Product development is hard enough when you are doing it when nobody outside knows it is happening. Doing it in public makes it so much harder. Things that happen regularly when creating something new and which are regularly overcome look so much larger to someone watching from the outside than they really are. I envision a satisfactory resolution to the helical problem. I am looking forward to having the product you both envisioned in my hands.
That's part of the deal with Kickstarter. It is financing by the general public small investor. If you promise an update, you do an update. Even if it's very short and not resolving anything, you state that's where you are and maybe next time x, y and/or z will be resolved. Maybe not. But we'll let you know in the next update (which then should happen).
I guess I feel that I have been getting updates and I am satisfied. I don't need to know every twist and turn. I think I have the big picture.
WE GAVE them the money. We hope they succeed. We are not investors, nor shareholders or boss. Thank goodness.
Please give it a rest. I personally feel terrible about the continued demands from a few 'know it alls'.
Real people like Ben read your posts, demands and it hurts them and us in ways only we know.
Every little post demanding answers, 100's here read, since we are all waiting for the camera, but most of us, 100's of us are silent and patient.
If we ignore the annoying posts or thread entirely we miss the actual developments, so don't tell me to shut up.
Annoyed, not with KS, Travelwide or the principals, but my fellow LF members.
Please stop posting!
It's like this thread is going round and round in circles...
