Clouds rolled in last evening here so no third chance. You may remember this Barn Door Tracker I made some years ago. It would have been good for your second shot. It's good for couple of minutes of exposure before streaking starts with a wide angle lens.

Wow! That's really neat! Yeah, there was a bit of star trails in my photo.
That's a dramatic photo! It brings back memories of the year I spent at the Kohler Company photo studio.

So Friday night I got a few pics of the aurora here in north GA, but I mostly missed the show. I just happened to see everyone freaking out online after it was happening for 30-45 minutes. I saw it vanish over about 15 minutes, but at least I saw it a bit.
On Saturday night, with big predictions and clear weather forecast, there was hundreds of people trying to see things at the local lake where I've shot a lot of night images. Nothing happened and it clouded over to boot, but I did shoot this:
