The image I posted above was actually the first photograph of the day. This one was my last one of the day. After wandering around the Oceana Dunes for a few hours the sun was beginning to set and as I'm not huge of sunset photos and I had one remaining piece of film I decided to break all of the "rules" and try shooting directly into the sun and see if I could catch just the highlights on the top of the dunes and a little detail. It seems that I got lucky.

I like this a lot, Tim! Very fine sort of abstract dune image. Shooting into the sun gives it a great look.

This is a tree farm. Beneath each of those pods is a tiny sapling. If anyone's interested, there's a companion picture over in the "abstracts" thread. Cheers!

Excellent Bill. Wonderful cloud structure over a field of what appears to be sunflowers. I'm a cloud freak anyway so love it.

In my opinion, excellent DOF and contrast. Crazy frozen forms.

I think the compo is perfect with that cloud. Have you used a red filter? Thanks

Well, I wanted it to be as much about the void as the field. I was chasing a certain feeling you might say. I did make a couple of alternate versions, but I liked this one the best. Anyway, thanks for the compliment!

Thank you. This sort of weather is fairly rare in this part of Oregon. The strange thing about this field is that the fields surrounding it were not covered in ice this way. Maybe here they had sprinklers on (intentionally?) and then the water froze? As I was the only one crazy enough to be out exploring, there was no one around to ask. :)

Wow Peter, that is very kind of you to say. Thank you. But I would think that such scenes would be almost mundane for you, seeing as you're in Wisconsin. :)

One of the things I especially like about them is that you're the one traipsing the 4x5 camera over the ice, not me. :)
But sure, I see (and take) a lot of ice and snow pictures, but yours are particularly good.

Is 1000001 same as "one in a million"?
[Plagiarizing] Reminds me that there are only 10 kinds of people: Those who understand binary, and those who don't.
