Re: The betterscanning.com business status thread
FWIW, those Betterscanning folks would update the listed date on their site, but I just don't think they've operated in years. You can get results with Epson's own Wet Scan Holder. Cost is around $50, and it'd be hard to pay less than that at the end of the day.

About ten years ago, I received an incorrect kit from Betterscanning. I called, and while the response wasn't exactly enthusiastic, they did eventually replace it.
As someone who has built and maintained websites professionally since 2000, I make it a point to avoid any site that lacks proper security (HTTPS instead of HTTP). BetterScanning is one such site, and there are plenty of reasons to steer clear. If you're unfamiliar with the risks, here are just a few:
Data Interception (Man-in-the-Middle Attacks) – Malicious actors can intercept unencrypted data.
Lack of Encryption – Information sent to and from the site is not protected.
Increased Risk of Malware and Phishing Attacks – Unsecure sites are often exploited for harmful activities.
No Verification of Website Authenticity – HTTPS verifies that a site is legitimate; HTTP does not.
Modern Browsers Warn Against It – Most browsers label HTTP sites as "Not Secure."
Compromised Privacy – Your activity can be tracked or manipulated.
Lack of Trustworthiness – A website without HTTPS reflects a lack of professionalism and security awareness.
If you absolutely must visit an unsecured site, proceed with caution and consider using a VPN for additional protection.
In this day and age, there's no excuse for a business not to have a secure website. Most hosting providers offer SSL certificates either for free or for a small fee. The fact that BetterScanning has not implemented basic security measures suggests it is either unaware, indifferent or no longer a legitimate presence on the web. Personally, I think they are no longer in business.
