Re: Large Format Landscapes
Heroique, Sam, and Nana, Thank you, I appreciate that. The thing that struck me about this boardwalk is that they installed it to prevent people from marking up the hills with their footprints, but in doing so, they made the platform the dominating element in the landscape! At least it was for me. Anyway though, thanks again.

The crosses are a roadside memorial to accident victims about 3'-4' tall maybe and I'm no where near patient enough to wait all day, just got lucky.

Very Nice! Looks like one can get to that area (partially) by possibly County Road 580?

Yeah, hit 580 out of Gardner and after you pass through the Singing River ranch it turns into FR408 which leads through the Nat'l. Forest to the Lily Lake trailhead at about 10,000 ft elev. It's not a jeep trail though high clearance is recommended and if you have low range you will use it. There is about three or four miles of virtually flat valley walk til the climb up to the cirque where Lily Lake lies - splendid views the whole way. There are four fourteeners in the Blanca massif which you can climb if your'e so inclined! - Chris

Thanks Steve.
Some of those fissures ran under the moss, all the way up the trunk, without a break.
And OH how it rained that evening...

Love the diagonal band of light on this one.
And I agree that large format is completely different than digital...film is much more satisfying.

This was taken at the pinnacles area in Crater Lake Nat Park. I wanted to fool around with front and rear tilts to eliminate the perspective distortion from shooting downward, but my position was precarious, on loose footing. I felt lucky to get this without losing my whole kit down the slope! In retrospect, I ind of like the effect of the distortion.

Very nice shot, H2oman, glad you didn’t fall.
I like how the pinnacles & trees mimic each other.
Crater Lake is a fascinating and mysterious place.

Not that I don't get good stuff or enjoyment out of seeing new places, I find I get the best images I can when I marry my self to a subject or a place and stay there awhile.
That's why it is best to actually live in these places, in order to get well above average shots, you have to live it 24/7 and of course, be very talented. I have lived just down the road from these peaks for 15 years, have climbed them 3 times, all the 14,000 peaks in Colorado at least once. I am starting to take my 45N2 to the tops of these places.
If three's a crowd, then......100+ is a problem. Not one person had their tripod at a different height than the other, hilarious....

OMG I can believe it. What 's the point to go in the mountains when it looks like rush hours.
