Trees & limbs fallen from the skies
"Timber!"
I hope you were out of the shadow when it crashed to the ground!
Fallen trees have always fascinated me. As a kid, I remember being delighted at being so close to the tree tops for the first time. Later, this led to a lot of tree climbing in my adolescent years. My mother wasn’t too happy. (“You come down from there!”) These days, I still get to the tree tops, but only when the tree meets me at ground level, like I’m a kid again.
Please share your trees and branches that have fallen from the skies. :D

In my neighborhood there are remnants of the apple orchard that stretched for a good distance many decades ago. At the back of my property is one of the original trees, now gone wild. Could not resist bringing this one back out..."Fallen Redwood, Nude, 1986"
Cropped 4x5 negative, 150mm lens, printed with about a 7x19 image area on Portriga Rapid 111.
This redwood is now a thickly-grown elevated forest floor, some 35 years later.

Oh my gosh Vaughn! I was looking...looking...where is she? Suddenly I saw a tiny figure...and realized how the scale is so very different than here in the east. Great work!
Re: Trees & limbs fallen from the skies
I think I see her too!
Vaughn, didn't you once say that was Artemis, the Greek goddess of the hunt?
And you were Actaeon from the myth? Pick-up your tripod and run!

Maybe it fell from the skies, but it could be rising from the dead.

She was a Caribbean mixture of beauty and strength. Dove in underwater caves as a research assistant. A friend who I have lost track of...she may have returned to Antigua. She would make an excellent Artemis in all regards.
John -- creating a sense of scale with the use of a figure was one of the primary reasons for having Jackie pose. But I wanted to do it without the weight of the previous century's use of the clothed figure (men and occasionally women and children), posing in the massive undercuts, or in crowds on top of new stumps.
At least that is how I explained the images to Linda Conner, who obviously did not buy a word of it but who was kind enough just to give a small chuckle instead of a lecture.
But those images allowed me to move on and find my own way of achieving the same goals.
