Durst 450 cls power supply
Hi,
I've just bought a Durst 1200 with cls 450 head, unfortunately without power supply. I've built one for it, its output is 24V AC, 250VA. Light is OK, but the cooling fan is not working. There are two wires for the bulb, another for connect the head to ground and three more thinner wires which I'm not sure about. I think one of them is for filter's check light the rest are for cooling fan.
My questions:
- does the fan have a heat switch or it is always on?
- is there anybody who has an original power supply and would measure for me the voltage of each wire?
- maybe somebody has circuit diagram for it?
Thanks in advance.

I have the exact same problem...
Re: Durst 450 cls power supply
I'm not familiar with the Durst, but Chromega heads are set up so that the bulb runs off of 24V DC, but the fan (and the panel illumination bulb) are 110V AC. Is there any way you can check the voltage for your fan passively? Are there any labels/markings on the fan that would indicate its voltage?
Best,
Doremus
Re: Durst 450 cls power supply
When I purchased a VLS500 head for my Durst, the fan wouldn't work. Turns out that the fan motor itself was bad (would not turn when hooked up directly to a 24V supply) and I could not find an exact replacement anywhere online. I ended up using a 24V computer fan (I think 60mm or so) mounted using rubber pads to isolate the vibration. I can take photos of the fan when I get home if you're interested.
As far as a replacement power supply, see what I did HERE.
Edit: I just realized I didn't address each of your question:
1. The fan should be on when the power supply is on. There is no thermal or other switch.
2. Fan voltage is 24VDC.
3. I don't have a circuit diagram for the CLS450, but the fan is just a 2-wire circuit. No components except the fan itself.

Re: Durst 450 cls power supply
I´m trying to use a normal transformer from 220v to 24v with 15 amps... a led trafo or simmilar, i also would like to use a clock... but usually the light does not turn on immediatly when the power supply is after the timer... i just have "normal timers"...
thanks for the power supply plans but i have no skills and i´m trying to keep cost at a minimum...
is there a "faster" power supply?
Re: Durst 450 cls power supply
Ruilourosa,
If you look in the link I posted above, I am using an industrial power supply for my L1200. If you're using a modern "switching" power supply, you must have the switch/relay on the load or output (24V) side of the power supply. If you put the switch or relay on the input or 220V side, the start-up time will be inconsistent.
Hope this helps,
MB
Re: Durst 450 cls power supply
I understand that, but most timers do not work with 24v...
The L1200 on my school has a power supply that goes after the clock...
i could use a normal power supply but i think i am not able to relay it ... i really do not know how to do it...
i will try a normal trafo... i will see if it works for me!
Thanks
Re: Durst 450 cls power supply
Can i use something like this?
i think there are faster or slower power sources...
