I joined LF in July of 2011 and just now found a great deal on a Linhof Kardan Color 45S. I've been shooting for many years with 35mm and medium format so I'm excited to get started and learn all I can about large format. I still need some film holders and a good solid tripod but hopefully I won't run into too many issues with the camera. Looks like I have a whole lot of reading to do first though. I hope to hear from other photogs and any good tips and helpful info to get going would be appreciated!

Welcome! I still consider myself a newbie with LF, but the large negatives are addictive. I'm out near Pittsburgh, btw.

Not too familiar with that area. I grew up in Clarion County.

It's just west of Gettysburg where hopefully I'll be shooting alot with the LF camera.

I wasted my childhood along the Kiskiminetas River, north of Greensburg. I did get to watch Wade Schalles wrestle at Clarion State College in 1974, that was worth it! Also spent a lot of time around Tidioute on the Allegheny river.

Did you go to Clarion? If you took physics, you would have pretty likely had my grandfather as your professor.

No, I didn't go to Clarion. I was there for a wrestling camp, although they tried to recruit me without a scholarship.
