I recently acquired an excellent Sinar Norma and while I will be using it for 4x5 work I would also like to get a 6x9 RFB for it. Is there anyone using, or has in the past used, a Horseman Rotary Back #1275? I like the look of this back but would like to know if it will work on a Norma and if there are any caveats.

Thanks ...

Tim

Tim - I was curious about this myself. I found a couple of posts saying the Horseman rotary back will work, but I don't know if there were different versions of the rotary back.

So no promises it will work, but it sounds like it may. I saw a Toyo slider back on eBay the other day and wondered if it could be hacked to fit my Norma, but realized I have enough projects already I'm not getting done.

I own several of the original Norma Sliding Roll Backs, you might want to check into that. It works with the old wind-knob Graflex-Graphic backs, although you must do some filing to get the outer shell inverted, so it will clear part of the Norma shutter mechanism. It works especially well with the Sinar Norma Mechanical Shutter, and connecting cables. It completely automates the front and rear standards, almost as fast to use as a reflex camera, after you are used to it.

Toyo Sliding Backs were made in several versions:

Toyo camera > 6x9 Horseman/Toyo
Toyo camera > Mamiya Press
Toyo camera > Roll Film Backs for Graflok 4x5
4x5 Graflok > 6x9 Horseman/Toyo
4x5 Graflok > Mamiya Press
4x5 Graflok > Roll Film Backs for Graflok 4x5
