Nobody from Toronto! Very surprising...

Raffay,

Given the very low temperatures in the upper parts of North American right now, the forum's Toronto members may be more interested in being close to their home's heating unit than they are in sitting at a computer.

Raffay,

Actually the problem for me is I do not know what an SPI air reduction chemical storage bottle is.

I am familiar with the plastic accordion bottles that were generally available for consumer use, and I have seen the tanks with the floating lids, but is SPI a manufacturer or a technique...

A little more information would be useful.

My brother has a long career in the pharmaceutical industry and would be able to provide me some insight, however I am currently seven time zones from him and the Toronto area, so communication is difficult.

Have another go at it, but this time with some explanation of what you are looking for.

Besides, if it works for you maybe some others might find it useful as well...

Len is on the right track, they're accordian bottles.

OP, did you try googling it, this is what I found. http://www.2spi.com/catalog/photo/air-evac.shtml

If you're in Toronto for a visit and have time, try Henrys, Downtown Camera, Aden Camera, Film Plus or the camera show going on today (Jan 27) at the Don Valley Hotel (or whatever it's called). $7 to get in.

good luck

For long term storage of photochemicals a glass bottle is better than a plastic bottle accordian or not.

Use a glass bottle and use wine-stoppers and a vacuum pump (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wine-Bottle-Vacuum-Saver-Sealer-Preserver-Pump-Stopper-/300534802989?pt=UK_Babay_Baby_Feeding_Cups_Dishes_Cutlery_LE&hash=item45f9452a2d)to evacuate the air.

Not SPI, but Henry's has these (http://www.henrys.com/11512-AP-AIROUT-BOTTLE-2-LITRE.aspx) in various sizes (film&darkroom->darkroom->enlarging equipment).
The ones I bought from them have a red cap.
I recall reading that the black ones were more impervious to air penetrating than the brown ones.
Couldn't say if that were true or not.
