I just recently got into large format and bought myself a Wista, and now I need something to scan my negs. Right now I am scanning half 4x5 negs on a cancan 9000f and putting the pieces together on the computer. It gets more and more frustrating. I know it is an old thing, but I found a used 9900f for a fraction of the price of a new V700. Is it even worth it? Are there other cheaper alternatives to a V700 that costs about $900 here in Denmark?

I have the 9950. It does a good job.

Great, I guess if I can get the price down to around $70-$80, it will be a good price for a temporary scanner.

I was using a 9900 until like 3 years. It did a fine job. Unfortunately I had to abandon it and switch to Epson V700 when I got myself a new PC. There was no driver for the Canon for Windows 7.

So check availability of drivers for your PC / operating system before you buy.

Just use Viewscan for the drivers.

Take a look at the Vue Scan Release Notes (http://www.hamrick.com/vuescan/vuescan.htm#changes) to see if your scanner is supported.

I just checked it, Silverfast on OS X 10.8 does not support the 9900f unfortunately. I guess it is a no-go. But Thomas, do you know any german sites for selling/buying used stuff?

Cheers, Victor
