I owned (and sold here last year) a Wehman. They are great cameras and very durable, but as a point of clarification, they are not all metal.

Hope you find one, you will love it.

If you want an "all metal" camera, you might want to look at the Kodak Master 8x10 camera. It is also usually referred to as the "KMV" or Kodak Master View. Long out of production but 4-5 or so usually show up for sale per year on eBay and elsewhere on the web.

I have one, and really enjoy using it. I bought it for the same reason you have mentioned, being that its all metal.

Just an idea

I have a Wehman - it's all metal except for such things as lens boards, etc. Unfortunately, Wehman ceased manufacture a year or so ago.

The idea that a can make me about this camera it's a very good tool ,you think like me?
most of guy said me that i better take a chamonix 8x10 ,but for me that type of camera are so nice for my use .
and i'm not sure that they support bad condition to make picture, but when I saw the wehman camera i was certain that it's very strong and making for can working all the days bad or good meteo.
I said true or my first idea is wrong?

If conditions are that bad, I'd be concerned for my lenses before I worried about a Chamonix/timber camera.

yes sir ,but it's very easy to protect a lens ,inside the jacket ,with a condom also,a good filter un the front ,etc...and a tube caps ,http://www.wehmancamera.com/snowcamera.jpg
have a look of vinny walsh and maybe you think that you can do it with your chamonix but for me I don't want to taste .

There are so many 8x10's . . .

What are you trying to photograph? Will you use this camera just for this project, or will you continue to use it later on?

What are the adverse conditions to which you allude?

What about a teak chamonix. They cover boats with teak - it should be able to withstand some bad weather

Definitely not "all metal except for such things as lens boards." There is a lot of composite material and even some wood on the back.

I purchased my Wehman used off Ebay for $1,500.00. I saw where a few others sold on Ebay and this forum for around the same price. They don't come up for sale often.

Hi badass man ,maybe tomorrow you can have somethink to sell....:D
thanks Miguel Curdelo i go to have a look to Wilderness ,it can be a very good solution.
the wood used in the wehman seem to be not reel wood but a composite who can't be affect by water, and choc.

That's right - it's not wood, it's a plastic composite similar to circuit boards.

The back is regular old wood - at least on mine. I think some of the earlier ones might have had the plastic composite back

As I said, there is some real wood on the back.

It is a durable camera, but it is not all metal.

You might want to look at the Ritter as well. See: http://www.lg4mat.net/LFcamera.html

Richard is still building them I believe.

And you are likely to get it tailored through minor revisions (lensboard size / type - Sinar, 6x6, etc.) to your needs.

I have a Wehman although it is not for sale. It is an excellent camera. Used they sell for $1500+ from what I have seen but they are rarely available. If I were you, I would buy a Ritter. It is lighter, just as weather resistant, has asymmetrical rear swing which is great, a bail back, and a long bellows.

The Wehman has a limited form of asymmetric rear swing also.

That is one of its best features! Apart from Ritter, I am not sure if any other 8x10 has it.

The super expensive and beautifully crafted Ebony cameras have asymmetrical swings. Not all models but a few.
