Hello there everybody! I am currently diving into the large format arena after falling in love with the collodion process! I have been searching high and low for resources to help me either procure or build a wet plate back for my view camera. Is there anyone that could help me in this search?

Christopher,

Go to www.collodion.org and order the Wet plate Manual written amd published by France Scully and mark Osterman. A modern 8x10 holder can be easily converted for wet plate use and the process is thoroughly detailed in the manual.

Christopher,

Ray Morgenweck of Star Camera (http://www.geocities.com/starcameracompany/) will build a custom wet-plate back for most view cameras. He also builds beautiful period cameras, and all the equipment that you need for wet-plate. His work is excellent, prices reasonable, and he is very honest. He builds cameras mostly for the civil war reenactment crowd, but has also done custom work for many folks including the Ostermans, John Coffer, and myself. He also teaches wet plate out of his studio in south Jersey.

For more help, look to Bob Szabo's Wet Plate forum (http://www.cwreenactors.com/cgi-bin/collodion2000/dcboard.cgi).
