Hi,

I just picked up some 5x7 Kodak Hard Rubber tanks and one of them had a small chunk busted out in one of the top corners. The piece is with the tank and the break is a fairly clean break without a bunch of chips missing. The break is located above the solution level and there appear to be no cracks in the tank itself. Is there a glue I can use on hard rubber so that I can use this tank?

Thanks,

Mike Sullivan

Personally, I would use epoxy.

Thanks Kirk,

Somehow that completely slipped my mind. It looks like I'm off to the hardware store.

I have used epoxy, and it works, but you can also just buy more tanks and use the cracked ones as dry tanks for holding hangers as you load them before starting the development sequence. They're not so expensive, though shipping can be.

I think that my tank is probably a good candidate for repair, based on the location of the break. There seems to be no damage to the tank other than in this one area, and no cracks running up or down the sides. 5x7 tanks have been difficult to find locally, so I think I'll try repairing it first.

I'd try the cement used to repair tubeless tires.

I would try Goodyear Pliobond, it should work for rubber, and it resists water, once dried.
