Hi
I have just purchased a Sinar P 5X4, some of the controls are not as smooth as they should be, I am looking for something like 'The Rough Guide to Cleaning, Lubricating, and Adjusting the Sinar Norma' from Philip Morgan but for the 'P', I have a PDF of the Sinar P service manual which may as well be in Hyroglifics as far as I'm concerned, I have tried Google alas to no avail, any suggestions much appreciated.

Hi Peter
Message received and reply sent, thankyou.

The problems I have with the 'P' are as follows:-

The focusing knob on the rear standard bearer is a little loose compared to the front which is very smooth.

The drives for both front and rear rise feel a little tight (maybe they should?) one of the knobs is a touch loose.

The drive knobs for tilt and swing on both standards are rather loose.

All the movements themselves operate smoothly with no backlash or slip it appears to be just the knobs or the drive shafts that are the problem.

First problem on my list above is sorted, the nylon geared focusing rack was loose, tightened two screws now works fine.

It would be great to find a Manuel on how to fix these wonderful beasts.
I have a few broken levers that are annoying when rotating grafloc back.

Actually a spare parts supply would be great to. Sinar hq maybe?

Sinar does have spare parts. I've just called Sinar-Bron in New Jersey for them, and new parts are often compatible with older models. My P has a fair number of P2 parts, for instance. Remember, though, that from Sinar's perspective, it's still a $10,000 camera, so new parts can be expensive.

Can you post all the fixes you get so the rest of us can learn from this?
It would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Sinar Bron is out of business. Sinar today is owned by Leica, also in NJ.

Bob, Sinar Bron was in business when that post you quoted was written.

Kleiny41, you might try starting a new thread with that specific request in the title.

I know, but since it has been resurrected some people might know that they closed a few years ago and where Sinar is now!
