Somewhere on this forum I came across a link to a website, a lens vade mecum-ish site about brass lenses divided into portrait, landscape etc. Can't find it, so is there anyone here who can help me?
This is the closes that I can think of, but it might not be the one you're looking for, but its a lot og great info on this one also : http://antiquecameras.net/blog.html

It's a long time since I had a look at these listings.
There are some obvious mistakes and many omissions.
Spencer Port-Land has become the "Sinclair".

I agree.
Fun but far from complete.
I'd stick to the http://antiquecameras.net/blog.html

Sometimes a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
I said:

I now know that the UK importer/agent of the "Port-Land" was James A. Sinclair - so not so much in error after all:

I find Allen Romme's site a huge help ... and he lists the source of each entry so you can check if you have a question ..... like the Sinclair/Spencer issue.
The source for the Sinclair reference is listed as an advertisement in the 1920 British Journal Photographic Almanac ... I looked online but couldn't find that particular source ... anybody have a copy to see how Romme came up with that information?

There are a few members here who do have sets of UK periodicals. I hope they got them when prices were reasonable!
They must fill quite a few feet of book shelf space.
I have never been able to find any "British" reference on line - the copyrights have probably passed down to a zealous organisation.
