They were made to mount in an obsolete Compur #1 Dial Set shutter that has same 35.5mm openings on both sides. Later #1 shutters have 2 different size threads. Large in front smaller in back. The smaller thread in back is correct. It will take some luck to find one. Or you could go with a semi modern dial set compur and use the stock rear thread and have a bushing made to adapt the larger front size.

I can photograph mine for you if you like. Fine little lens set.

I think this lens (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Nagel-Doppel-Anastigmat-Lens-13-5cm-f-4-5-in-Compur-Shutter-/121021885704?pt=US_Vintage_Cameras&hash=item1c2d776d08) has one.

This one (http://www.ebay.com/itm/3-1-4-x-4-1-4-Tessar-Ic-5-1-2-E-F-f4-5-Lens-Compur-Shutter-On-4-x4-Lens-Board-/150945640787?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item23250fb153) too.

And one more (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rodenstock-Munchen-Trinar-Anastigmat-13-5cm-f-4-5-lens-/121018376869?pt=Camera_Lenses&hash=item1c2d41e2a5).

thanks again !

I have a set of these eidoscope cells mounted in an ibsor shutter (the precurser to the prontor press). My ibsor has a shutter speed that goes up to 1/100 - some ibsors go up to 1/125 - these 1/125 shutters might be a different size (so to be safe stick with the 1/100 model).

Here are some photos of the shutter...I am pretty sure it is original due to the factory engraved aperture scale on the shutter.

Another happy owner of Eidoscope 150mm lens set... but mine is f/4.5 and fits directly to modern #1 shutter (Copal, Compur-Synchro) without need of making adapter for front fit. So back lens has 35,5mm and front lens - just a bit larger - has 40,5mm thread. Does it mean it was from last Hermagis production before it was taken over Berthiot?

Pretty! Yes, that would be my guess too.

Interesting ... I have a 150mm f4.5 set where both cells measure 40.5mm ... so based on this thread we have two f numbers and 3 configurations possible ?

I've not found a shutter yet where mine fit in ... definitely not in a Compur that holds a 135mm f4.5 lens ... maybe a Compur holding a 150mm f4.5 lens ?

My serial # is 166,045

Dial set Compur for 150/4.5 lens should be right for your set I think.

My serial # is 294,554

Just confirming that I finally found an inexpensive 150mm f4.5 Carl Zeiss Tessar in dial set shutter and the Hermagis #5 cells are a perfect fit ... yeah !

Rudi, just saw this...

As far as I know there are only two types 150mm "Amateur" Hermagis Eidoscopes, the 1:4.7 and the 1:4.5. Both were produced and sold at the same time. The choice between either of these two lenses was not so much based on the aperture, as on the size of shutter a typical enthousiast photographer would likely already have. The idea was, when in an artistic mood, to simply switch normal lens cells for Eidoscope cells. The bigger Eidoscopes in barrel were for the pro's :)

So:

For the f/4.7 Eidoscope: Compur 1/3 or Ibsor 2 when one already owned a shutter for the 1:4,5 135mm anastigmats (like a 135mm Hellor and Major or a 160mm Aplanastigmat, or
For the f/4.5 Eidoscope: Compur 1/S (newer type Compur shutter with self timer) when already owning a 1:4,5 135mm or 150mm lens (like Hellynx or bigger Hellors and Majors), or
For the f/4.5 Eidoscope: Compur 2/IV or Compur 2/V (standard type Compur shutter) when owning the above lenses in 1:4,5 150mm.

When an order for a 150mm Eidoscope was placed, Hermagis would typically ask for either the exact type of shutter a photographer owned or for the inner diameter of the shutter's threads.

Piotr's iteration could be the very last run of 150mm "Amateur" Eidoscopes, maybe made to fit the then current shutters (his serial number is very late). I don't know. Or it could be a case of mix-'n-match where one set of cells was sacrificed for conveniency.

Cheers, Maurits
