This is a collaboration with Barry from LF Deardorff & Sons Inc., this is a new custom "Stealth" V8 camera that was built to be 100% black and will be finished in all black after I shoot a project that I needed to pull the camera before it was finished with the black parts Barry is having custom made for my use.
The camera was delivered today via express mail, and it is perfect in all areas fit, finish, function etc.

Nice. Reminds me a bit of the Ebonized 1/2 plate Gandolfi I used to have.

It may be hard to focus through the all-black ground glass...

nice, but I wouldn't want to use anything with all black metal parts in the hot california sun. I'm guessing you won't be using it that way.

What tripod to match? Lovely camera but now you have to get an Ebony and Chrome Ries....

In view of the complaints here about Barry's slowness to deliver, when did you order your camera?

Here's the new Stealth with an actual lens that "Irving Penn" used and a gitzo and arca swiss support.

You sold me a bunch a Sinar stuff a couple of years ago... is this all that much better? I mean congrats on getting such a beautiful camera but in terms of going out and shooting is a Dorf going to do anything special?

Where did you get the lens shade? I absolutely need one like that!

It looks like the Jo Lommen lens shade on my Aero-Ektar. :)

The very words "Deardorff V8" and "Stealth" just don't jive, IMHO:rolleyes:

What's more amazing is that he actually received a camera ordered from Barry Cochran.

As I recollect(hah) There was a black V-8 made for one of DD's employees just before they shut down the original business.

Wow... that is gorgeous. I think I like it with the chrome hardware. "Stealth"? As compared to what... a 20x24? :)

And this is invisible to radar, right?

During WWII Ansco Agfa made their cameras in what they called 'piano finish' which was really really beautiful but as the war dragged on they painted the cameras as it was easier/cheaper/faster than finishing the wood the other way.

arrived today via express mail the black 8x10 to 4x5 reduction back grafloc with 3 lens boards 0,1,3 in oem finish. Deardorff did make a blk 4x5 years ago but as far as we know this is the first 8x10 and for sure the only one that was to be finished all black.

Although, to be absolutely clear, this cannot be the "first black 8x10 Deardorff" because it was not made by Deardorff but by someone who purchased the right to use the "L.F. Deardorff and Sons" name, (which Jack Deardorff himself could not use because it was sold to another company in the late 80s or early 90s) as well as quite a lot of old stock Deardorff components from Jack Deardorff's estate.

Stealth Deardorff.

Kinda like a Stealth Cement Mixer.

Stealth Jackhammer.

Stealth Monster Truck.

Sure, you can paint it black, but ain't nobody gonna be fooled.

It's very pretty though!
