BLUE marks issue on new V700 Epson

I'm getting this weird blue mark on some scans, and also a lot of little blue marks on some scans.
The scanner is brand new and the film is clean. any ideas. thanks!

Have you looked closely at the glass to see that it's clean?

To follow up on Marty's comment: my V700 came with LOTS of blue tape holding things in place for shipping. Is it possible one piece was attached to the glass and left some residue when you removed it?

thanks Marty and Bob. I just double checked with a magnifier and flashlight. I don't see blue on the glass or tape anywhere. And it seems also to be intermittent.

Have you tried sending it back to Epson as being defective? Nobody else has heard of anything like this, other than the obvious, i.e. dirt. You could pop the top and clean it but it would void the warranty, so I would contact Epson first.

I don't know Frank, it seems to scan fine. puzzled. Obviously it will be returned if I can't come up with a solution.
