I just obtained a Eastman No 2. It is in usable condition but I am trying to clean it up.
I noticed a long crack on the side of the back standard. It runs across almost half the height of the back standard. Pls see attached.
Should I attempt to repair it ? if so, what the best way? Wood filler?

Or shall I just leave it alone?

Thanks!

If you can get some carpenters glue in there, just glue it and clamp it closed for a few hours. Make sure to wipe off the excess glue with a damp cloth before it dries.

That crack looks to me like it should repair just fine. Just to expand on Jon's spot on suggestion, water down the carpenters' glue a bit. 2 parts glue to 1 part water should be about right. Stir it well and let it sit long enough that any bubbles created in stirring pop. That will help the glue pull into the deepest, narrowest parts of the crack as well as squeeze out into the smallest, cleanest, most structurally sound repair.
