How many lenses do you carry with 4x5 for landscape?

And which focal length? :)

Hi Rusty,

I carry 4 but I guess it depends on personal style so you'll probably get a lot of different answers. Focal lengths I use are 65, 90, 150 and 210 and for the type of landscapes I like to take the 90 gets the most use closely followed by the 150.

I carry Fujinon 90mm, 125mm, 180mm, 210mm, and 300mm....I use the 210mm and 300mm 99% of the time.

Generally 2: 135 and 210. On another camera it is more like a 135 and 190.

I carry a 90, 135, 180, 210, and a 300. Most used are the 180, 210, and 300. I dream of a 450 or a 500T, some day.

As has been said, you'll get different answers depending upon the style of the individual photographer. I tend to 'extract' details from the landscape, rather than going for the 'grand landscape', so my longer lenses seem to get more use.

Hmmm? Note to self: Maybe I'm limiting myself--need to think about that.

Is that one lens of 150mm focal length or does it vary from one lens to one hundred and fifty lenses?!!!

I carry two, one 150mm and a 240A. I find I can do the rest by picking up the tripod and walking forward or backward.

Of course, it has a lot to do with what you are interested in. If you want to shoot far-away mountains you will need a longer lens. I have a longer lens, but no longer the desire to shoot far-away things. It's for sale... Most of the photographers in the photohistory books shot with one lens and one camera for 10 years or more at a time... it helps one to understand what fits in the image.

Lenses are beautiful jewels. But I would say you don't need too many...

2, but rarely the same 2.

I agree that you don't need too many. I got by for years with a 115mm. Then I got a 90, 135, 210 kit that lasted me another 6 or so years.

But now I carry 6; 90, 120, 150, 210, 300, 450. I find uses for them all, but could probably drop the 90 and not notice....but I'm sure I would miss it once I did.

I have thought about adding a 180 to really round it out, but that may be excessive. Especially because I'm focusing on 8x10, and really only shoot 4x5 when traveling.

Three: 90 , 150 and 210. I do have access to a 120 and a Turner Reich convertible as well but the bag is full with the three.

Two when going light: 90mm Angulon and 203mm Ektar (both are very light weight)
Three otherwise: 90mm Angulon, 150 Fuji, 240 Fuji

It depends on the circumstances. I have four lenses 75 mm, 90 mm, 150 mm, and 300 mm. I usually carry at least the 90 mm and the 150 mm. If necessary, I will take one or both of the others.

80, 110, 180, 300

All four are always carried. In order of usage frequency, it would be 180, 110, 300, 80.

I own 6 lenses so I either carry 3 or 5.

If three, it is 90, 150, 240..

I mostly carry five, 65, 90, 135, 180 and 240.

Six

125, 150, 240, 300, 450 and an old Verito 8-3/4".

If I am going somewhere I think I will use it, I toss in an 80, but that is very, very rare. I don't see in wide angle. I mostly use the 240, 300 and 450.

Anywhere from 1 to 5 lenses.

1 - 135mm
2 - 135 and 200 (most used set) or 135 and 300mm
4 - 90, 135, 200, 300
5 - 75, 90, 135, 200, 300

I think I take my best shots when I only take 2 lenses. Some days I mostly use the 135mm and others it's mostly the 200 or 300mm.
