... Imagine using this new 11x14 Arca-Swiss? Not only is the giant camera shown mounted on a wee ballhead but look closely at the front standard... that looks like a ballhead in lieu of traditional tilt movements. I bet using it will be a lot of fun with a 6-pound lens attached!

....Or in any wind or any less than perfect conditions. The monorail looks about as sturdy as a Gowland on a diet.

Looks more like a pan head for swing, Frank.

The newer Arca heads are "upside" down, Dan. You twist the metal ring to loosen them.

It looks ridiculous. Like a circus elephant balancing on a stool.

I never used anything but, and I hate them.

I get a kick out of the little Deardorff (or whatever) leveling doo-hicky on the front standard! Couldn't the prestigious A-S just used a spirit level like everyone else? And apparently there is no front rise? Oh well, I'm sure this will only cost somewhere in the low to mid ten Ks, so what would you expect?

This is what happens when MBAs design cameras.

Lots of Arca envy out there.

I wonder what the front movements are on the new Deardorf, Toyo, Sinar, Linhof 11x14's?

I wonder if it is possible to adjust front swing from the back of the camera? It looks like the pan lock lever could change position when the ball is loosened and adjusted. If so, hopefully it has numerous patents and can't be copied.

I'm a big fan of monorails but that aspect alone makes it a dumb looking camera. It probably needs twin monorails.

Thanks for the clue Frank ... nice idea to use a pan "arca" style head to implement swing and shift on a front standard ... ;)

I'm rebuilding a broken front standard of a Kodak 2D and this approach might fit the bill. Not necessarily "true" to the time but a practical solution for me to give swing and shift to an old camera

Hate ballheads but still admire A-S. Information and answers to all the questions raised here can be found on the Arca Swiss website.
