Thanks a lot Scott !
Do you have an adress for a good lab for 4x5 C41 process in Los Angeles ?
Many Thanks,

I've heard from reliable sources that Samy's in Santa Barbara is good too... if you are going there.

>Icon LA(my preference for an LA-based C-41/E-6/B+W lab, all Kodak chemicals)

>>>Samy's in Santa Barbara
**no website for their mail-order service**, but you can drop-off in person, and pickup in person @ the store(lab is in the back room behind the counter) if you want. Nice people!
e-mail Samy's S.B. staff to get their mail-order forms if you plan to mail film to them for processing:
sbminilab@samys.com

those are the rec'd 3 labs that I'd use here in the southern california(ish) area. I've used them all, but my preference is Icon for C-41 film. Never an issue, no mottling marks, super clean dust-free processing!

best of luck,

Dan

p.s. If I were you, I'd order the film ONLINE(say, B+H, and have it delivered to your hotel/address where you'll be staying, that way you won't have to worry about not finding film(if all the sources are out) when you arrive. A little more "hassle" now upfront, but it should let you breathe easier knowing your needed film is there when you arrive. Have a nice time in San Francisco!

K- I agree with the above posts, and add one shop/lab for film: Lightwaves @ 130 Russ St in SF's South of Market. They bought out what was Just Film Inc.

Still, finding your favorite flavor of color film is going to be spottier than say, finding a box of HP5. You may want to order online and have it mailed as suggested.
(I personally prefer to give my business to local retailers when reasonable. Lightwaves can order most film for you and have it in a couple weeks.)

You might want to buy film at Lightwaves, but I wouldn't use them as a lab. They did a serious number (fortunately recoverable) on my 5x7 sheet film I had them soup for me. Everything came out with a (correctable but pronounced) green tint, and looked overcooked too. I've heard that they used to be really good but their QC on their C-41 machine is not done as regularly as it should be.
