Is it better to print in batches to save ink? Was wondering if you use up ink to prime every time you turn the pritner on for 1 print?

I think it depends a lot on the individual printer model.

My HP 7000 eats ink. It uses ink when you turn it on, when it idles between prints, and when you turn it off. It's a piece of junk.
That's sort of off-topic since it's really not a photo-quality printer, but it's a good example of an engineering flaw.

On the other hand, my Canon Pixma does not seem to use ink other than for its intended purpose.

For HP it is marketing genius, though, Mine eats up ink catridges like I munch potato chips.

Sergei... I put up with it because I'm too lazy to buy and install another printer. It is easier to task my wife/assistant to buymore ink than it is for me to replace the hardware. If only I knew an affordable printer that didn't use ink!

To print proof sheets.

Is there a problem?

For HP it is marketing genius...
Not exactly.

I bad-mouth HP printers every chance I get, and try to dissuade new buyers by steering them to other brands.

I'll never buy another HP. But all HP cares about is the next quarterly P&L statement.

I think that is the heart of Sergei's question.

Oh. OK. I mis-understood the question.

I needed a B-size (11"x14") printer (actually two of them) and it was the only one in stock locally at the time.

... at least you have a good reason. My reason is laziness.
