Hello: I have a new 4x5 Tachihara, and noticed that on the centimeter markings for lens rise/fall (front standard), there is an "L" marked near -0.66 cm (ie. slight fall).

Can anyone please tell me what does this "L" stand for? Many thanks.

If I'm not wrong, it's meant for the "zero" position if you are using Linhof lens board. Normally, they are very noticeable, as the hole for the mounting of lens is off-centre.

If you are using normal lens board i.e. the mounting hole is positioned on the centre of the mount, then you zero position should be "0", rather than "L".

Enjoy your camera, I have it about 6 months and still enjoying it!
