Just purchased my first 4x5 camera (thank you George), so I'm a complete newbie at LF.
I wanted to try my new camera with some instant film to get a feel for what I am doing (wrong), and get immediate feedback.
Is there a 4x5 holder made for either of the available Fuji FP-100c or FP-3000B instant films? Camera is a Shen Hao.

Yes, but it's an awful lot of money for a piece of plastic: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/308996-REG/Fujifilm_14250691_PA_45_Film_Holder_for.html

Thanks, I had just hunted it down myself on B&H. Ouch on the price.
Can anyone comment on use of this holder, some newbie instructions?
Is it a darkroom procedure to load the film?
Thanks

Search uTube for:

"How to load Fuji FP-100C45 instant pack film"

The video is good and set to nice music.

Note: it is very easy to load, is done in daylight. Nothing goes between the rollers (typical newbie mistake - from experience). At the end of the video you can see the dark cover paper is pulled, at that point it's locked N loaded.

Results are outstanding.

Have Fun,

Tim

B&H has a PA-45 for sale.
But the film I am looking at
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/860125-REG/Fujifilm_15435626_FP_100C_Professional_Instant_Color.html
says it is compatible with a PA-145.
Anyone know a source for the PA-145?

You can look for a Polaroid 405 film holder (I think that is the number) You can probably find a used 405 holder easier than the Fuji version and both work equally well.

Buy the smaller PA-145 or 405 holder. The 4x5 instant films are on their way out.

OK, so it's the PA-145 or 405 I want. Now to find one!

Is the 4x5 instant film gone everywhere, or just the US?

My local lab sells it and has a ton of FP-100c. No 3000b though. But I've got a local source of 3000b. Not sure how much he has of it, I bought three boxes recently.

Yep. Keep checking eBay and the listings here, APUG too if you're over there. I found a really nice one on eBay for $80. They turn up not infrequently and that's about the usual price for a good one.

And yes, you want the smaller one. The 4x5 film is discontinued but still available some places. But even before it was discontinued it was three times the price of the smaller film. The 3.25x4.25 is pretty close to the size of 4x5. Be aware the image isn't centered on the 4x5 ground glass. There's a thread in Image Sharing here for Polaroids and "Fujiroids" and in that thread I asked about the mask for the 4x5 ground glass since my holder didn't come with one and most don't seem to. Others replied with links to a pdf template where you can print out your own.

Everywhere, according to what I've read. The line has been shut down. There are lots of old Polaroid cameras that use the smaller film as well as a lot of scientific use for the black and white, so hopefully that will last a lot longer.
