For a couple years I've thought about carrying a small step ladder on very short hikes to known spots

but that's crazy

So I've looked for things that may work that are light in weight
something telescoping

bunch of crap

Just now while looking for a short telescoping ladder for a nonphotographic cemetery hobby I found these things

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Portable-Adjustable-16-41-cm-Telescopic-Folding-Compact-Stool-Travel-Chair-/260995243958?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cc4875fb6

http://www.safrut.co.il/English--Mini-Max.htm

2nd link has a little demo video but the address and site looks like an STD

just go the youtube video below

Pretty neat. A little short, I think. I was hoping for something more like 24in
but
best I've found yet
compact, sturdy enough to stand on

Have you seen anything similar to this

I'm gonna see if they can build taller ones

Maybe it'll be obvious when you tell me, but what is an STD? I know it's not a sexually transmitted disease.

Thanks for the link though. I love that little step stool. I think I'll get me one.

I'd guess grave stone rubbings...at least I hope it's not any of the other things I could think of!

Wow, I thought I was the only one that thought of herpes, the clap, the hivy, crabs and crohn's when I looked at websites.

no kidding. Why would you need step ladder for short hikes? Get over fallen trees?

That website looks like a trip to the computer doctor
like if you click on something your life is in danger
any moment I suspect to be "Taken" and have to rely on my nonweapons for hands father to rescue me
or be sold into prostitution

cemetery rubbings? You think I'm a dork? cemetery robbings. Sometimes the only way in those mausoleums is from above

fallen trees?
essentially
Around here its hard to find a clean view of something everything being so flat for the most part
step ladder and tall tripod could be enough
ive stood on the pelican case before a few times and it does help but it's also short

If I were really serious I'd use a ladder with camera attached
you could hike a couple miles in like that maybe

I'm not sure I'd stand on that thing.

Looks like something you's see advertised on late night TV: $79.95, but if you call right now, you can get 2 for $9.99 + $70.00 shipping and handling. Let us know how it works out for you.

How about drywall stilts? Most adjust 24 to 40 inches and are light weight.

When I saw the link and clicked on it I just assumed it would be some cool new shovel.

Crohn's isn't an STD by the way.. just a friendly public service announcement from an infrequent poster :)

Also, I'm 6'8" and for hire in leiu of buying and carrying a step ladder. I even pack a lunch!

cool design. but seems kind of short for any real use besides sitting.
