Replacement-alternative for Kart-A-Bag folding luggage carts

My trusty Kart-A-Bag finally gave up after 10 years. In the pre 9-11 days you could check it and unfold it to move your heavy camera and lighting cases. Now days it's probably cheaper to buy a cart on location than to check this through.

What's good these days for 2-3 Lightware cases, lights, grip, cameras? 150 lbs or less.

I was using a similar truck to the Wesco until it was stolen (had to check it ) at Barcelona airport.
I met Bill Allard at a workshop in Italy a month later,he had just flown in from India with a porter case (virtually unknown in Europe) looked great, so bought one at B&H next trip to NYC!
That was about 5 years back, I generally carry it on if there is no weight check, but is bombproof if it needs to be checked too.

Those Porter Cases look good and not very expensive -- I wonder how much you can load them and how they hold up? If I put 40lbs of lighting gear in one, could I stack my 40lb grip bag (11x11x33 inches) on top vertically?

If Lightware or ThinkTank made a similar case it would probably cost $600 so the price is rather amazing!

I ordered this last night since I want something that works with what I already have for cases: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/367964-REG/Wesco_220649_Maxi_Mover_Folding_Handtruck.html and we'll see how it compares with the Kart-A-Bag. Ten years isn't that bad a lifespan I guess.

Will probably try the Porter Case too, I could always unload one of the Lightwares or have options.

I have about 20 pounds of gear in my Porter Case and have carried about another 20 on top of it. I have heard of people loading them much heavier, but have no personal experience doing that. I don't think a total of 80 pounds would be a problem if you are on smooth pavement. The disadvantage of the Porter Case and the advantage of the Wesco you just bought is the size of the wheels. The Wesco will be easier to use going over curbs and bumps because of its larger wheels, but of course is yet another item to carry and try to get on a plane if you're flying.

Do you have the hard shell or soft model? I see the more expensive hard shell model has larger wheels and claims to be 12 lbs, which isn't too bad for a hard case. I used to use a Pelican 1550 that weighed about that, as they get heavier they need wheels which makes them even heavier....

I have an older model hard case with 4 inch wheels and it seems to be indestructible. I painted it light gray a while ago so it wouldn't bake in the sun when I was out using it.

Ditto on the hard case 4 inch wheels, looks like the newer one has better wheels.

Ended up getting the heavier of the two $99 Wescos and it seems nicer and sturdier than the Kart-A-Bags. I might try a Porter case down the road, I'd like to see one of course - but for now this allows me to use the cases I have already.
