View Full Version : RD Gray Periscope No. 3 ?

does anybody have any info on this little guy? focal length? coverage?
It has aperture disc but no flank. The only thread (http://www.largeformatphotography.info/forum/showthread.php?83276-RD-Gray-Periscope-5-lens&highlight=gray)I found in LFF is regarding No.6, mine is No. 3

Hey Dave.

Not sure what you mean by "flank".

Did you mean "flange"?

Just so ya know

A flange is attached to a lens board with screws. Then the lens barrel is attached to the flange.

RD Gray made what I've found to be very nice WA lenses in the 1880s-1890s. Their EXtreme Wide Angle is very nice. Sample shots in one of the links above.

Yea you could front mount to a shutter but why? This type of lens is best used stopped down so most times your exposure times will be 1-5 sec. You can just use your lens cap.

You could front mount the lens to a shutter like a Ilex #4 but you will need an adapter made as there are NO direct fits.

You could also use a Packard as a shutter option.
