Hi.

Ive just noticed that the blades on the shutter is bent on the tip. This applies for my Super Angulon 90 f8 and Schneider 150.

The blades on my Caltar 240 and 210 are smooth.

Is this normal ? Or should I be worried..

It's normal for some shutters, usually only the top & bottom blades are tweeked.

As Paul said... normal. Don't worry.

Normal. It's so the edges of the top and bottom blades do not butt when closing.

When repairing the shutter, make sure that blade goes on top.

There are often two bent blades... so one goes on top and the other goes on bottom.

What I do is designate the front of the shutter as "top" and number the blades from top to bottom. It's always a good thing to put all parts back in their original positions.

"Top" blade is generall the one called "#1" in the repair manuals (facing forward, away from the film plane)... generally the one nearest the shutter blade ring lever. "Bottom blade" is the last reinstalled - number 5 generally, facing toward the film plane.

I see your point; it is a good one. The "top" and "bottom" designations can get confused depending on one's perspective.

Repair manuals? (eek!) I have a very early Compound, the project is to make a new mainspring ( under the cocking lever) and new aperture blades. It isn't really worth it and the lens cells now reside in an Alphax I got from an oscilloscope lens, but I like the old Compounds. (shaking head smiley)

Like the top plate of a watch being the one the watchmaker sees when he opens it.

We all are cursed by our own demons. I like dial-set Compurs! (shaking head smiley)

Hey, I get along well with my demons. We're all on a first name basis.

Good point, #1 and #5 are enantiomers.

It's kinda' like poitive and negative ions... they are both ions, only different... college-boys talk like that when they mean "complimentary". I just hope they aren't saying stuff like that to girls.

I'm familiar with "enantiomer" only as a term in an organic chem. textbook, loooooooooong time ago.

I'm sorry to hear that. :)
