Hi all,

I know this is an ad for Alberta but... can you imagine the opportunities for shooting with LF?

Gorgeous production too!

[Turn up the volume. :)]

Looks familiar. And those women! Sort of like the beef fed examples I see around Austin.

Went there on my honeymoon in 1990... with my wife... and my 4x5... and my 8x10. She was a real trooper!

I miss a slomo shot of a grizzly awaken by the skiers between the trees and chasing them downhill... and then another version of the song: NO O OOOO OOO ;-)

Come on people... there's a lot more to Canada than just Alberta.

I've been trying to get transferred to Alberta for two years, it's a quality of life thing.

Yes. Everyone go to Alberta. Stay away from Saskatchewan. That's REAL LF country.

Don't come to Alberta! It's the worlds worst LF spot, really. There is nothing to take photos of, the people are not friendly and the air is thick with industrial pollution. Just spend all your time and money going to Yosemite. :o

Yah. And the same goes for Saskatchewan. We're real mean people and it's all flat.

I can confirm this. Last time I was in Alberta the atmosphere was thick with smoke especially along the Yellowhead highway in the vicinity of Robson and along the Frasier River. Total wipeout for photography with distant scenics. Lots of areas burned black. However despite the devastation people seemed very friendly and the nice campgrounds were free. Parks Canada personnel were on strike. Fewer tourists to stumble over. I moved over to the Bugaboo Spire area (BC) and found it pristine and quiet. Great images from the Konrad Cain (sp.) hut.

Both good and bad experiences.

I live in Southern Alberta where most of those images come from. Yes it is a great place to photograph. I have been working on three series lately, the badlands, the foothills and the mountains - all within an hour's drive of my home. Sorry to gloat, but it is a wonderful place to be. Buy me beer and I might reveal a few hidden gems.

No that is not how Alberta is, just Calgary. And worse than that the people there some times throw 45MX and 5X7 Elwoods at you.

But this time of year be prepared for the wind.

And the secret for shooting in Saskatchewan is that every time some one comes up to you do not say hi, instead Go Riders Go works. This summer I hope to get to their badlands.

The secret to shooting in Saskatchewan is to remember to turn the lights off when you leave :p

Alberta would be great if there was a place to have colour sheets processed. (Btw Scott I think I know your son.)

I love living on the coast, but some of my best shooting trips were in Alberta. Jasper Nat. Park. Writing-on-Stone Park. Badlands/Dinosaur Park. All amazing places. Pretty hard to go wrong. It was ALberta that made me buy a Harrison film tent. I fogged a bunch of Velvia loading it in a gas station bathroom.....

I hope to visit Alberta’s mountains before the mountain pine beetle kills all the trees.

BTW, where’s Jim Kitchen?

His Alberta plains under dramatic skies are sorely missed.

Must have me confused with someone else. My youngest son graduated 3 years ago from Alberta High School of Fine Arts in Okotoks & his name is Jon.
