Can anyone tell me the right size for end caps for a 150 EL-Nikkor f/5.6? I've done a lot of searching, here and elsewhere, and can't find the numbers for either the front or rear caps. I think the front is a 53mm, which is quite odd for Nikkor, but that's all I have scrounged up so far.

The EL-Nikkor mounts have evolved over the years. Which version of the lens do you have?

Mine takes 52mm filters on the front. It mounts in a 39mm leica standard lensboard with the adapter that was included with the lens, and without that it fits in a larger board, but I don't know the size.

Hmm...how might I describe its "version"... The read fits a Durst Lapla 39, so I'm assuming that's a 39mm Leica thread. The barrel is all black, with white numerals. The lens front is inscribed EL-NIKKOR 1:5.6 f=150mm, and has a serial number in the range 513xxx. A Nikkor 52mm snap-cap is slightly too large to fit inside the front threads. Those inner threads seem to be 47mm, while the outside of that rim seems to be 50mm.

Anything else that might help identify it?

I think mine takes the same cap as that of a Rodenstock - if it is the latest version. I also have an old 150 El-Nikkor which has a 53mm thrad and not the 39mm. I hope this partly solves the puzzle re: lens version.

I have the latest version and it takes a 52mm lenscap on the front and 39mm Leica thread.

The older ones, I would guess pre-1980, have styling similar to the '60s-era lenses for the Nikon F, with a heavily-scalloped aperture ring.
