I'm thinking of getting one of these for my 410.

I have been using one for several years...simple enough design, not much to go wrong, and holds a Sinar F1 with no drama.

If you take the quick release handle off the 410 or 405 you can bolt any old arca clamp straight onto the head - you might have to file a bit of the metal away or use a bit of aluminium bar to space it above the metal lip of the head. Works well, cheap and is dead solid.

I was intrigued unti I saw the price--$110! When I get around to it I'll adapt my 410 (with less total weight/bulk) as dave-whatever suggests.

Well, I do use a Kirk clamp on top of my 410. It works fine. There was no filing necessary, but this solution is more elegant.

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I recently did a write-up of a quick hacksaw job I did on my 410 to take an arca clamp here http://bit.ly/PoxHqA
