I tried to expose a 14x17 carbon print this morning and it looks like the bulb may be dead. How can you tell? The unit powers up, vacuum is fine, integrator is fine but when I start the exposure the bulb just has a very faint glow to it and does nothing else. I'm thinking it is dead? If so I think Freestyle carries the replacements? Has anyone gotten one of the bulbs from Freestyle and if so are the results similar to the Nu Arc bulbs or is it better to stick with the OEM? Thanks for any and all help. Got a show that I'm printing and did not need this.

Good luck on the bulb and the show!

Looks like it is the NP-80 Bulb that is on line for $160.00! Ouch! The bulb that Freestyle carries is for the 26-1k and I have the 1kS. Big difference!

HI Jim, I have used this bulb http://www.caprockdev.com/Exposure%20Lamps/NP-80.htm

It worked fine for maybe 200 exposures and then it wouldn't ignite all the way. It was the cheapest I could find, but I think it should last longer IMO.
Good luck
Erik

Erik, thanks for the link. I think I'm going to go with the one that is $160. I guess it is time to raise my print prices!!! Mark, carbon is not cheap now. :-))

Mark, I'll call you and set up a time to stop by for coffee and a print review.

Jim,
have you tried cleaning the end contacts? On an iffy bulb, frequently it can buy you (a little) time.

Thanks for the link! I just found a bulb for my Amerigraph for $85.00! That is half the price that the OEM charges.
