This should prove to be an interesting topic, anyone think the Government and or big business should determine content on your site? Make sure you read the list of congress (people) taking money from both sides.

It also supports copyright holders, like photographers, which is why the ASMP is for those bills.

Either way, they are poorly written and both sides are more influenced by money than justice.

The way I see it, the bill has the potential to be drastically misused. Like warrantless searches of your property. This is a case of placing limits on freedom of speach, regardless of wether one likes the message or content of a site, there are already protections in place and legal recourses to take if content is swiped.

It looks reasonable and fairly innocuous to the "innocent", but as the Patriot Act has shown, the definition of "innocent" is in the hands of the FBI and DOJ which has a record of misuse and abuse of power, especially with the Patriot Act. Add the ability to block Website(s) for alleged copyright infringement, and free speech gets lost in the process. Both sides have argued their position but in the end, it's the vague or ambiguous language that wins the day in court, usually for the government.

Maybe it's more than what Eisenhower said, it's not just the military-industrial complex that's the problem now, but more so the government-corporation complex that scares me more.

This is some really bad law - the possibility for abuse is huge.

There are a lot of things the government shouldn't be involved with... I'm sure this is one of them.

This is an ongoing challenge to free expression by the entertainment industry and other copyright/IP champions, and seriously challenges our fundamental freedoms.

So tomorrow (Wednesday) some major sites are going to put up a protest message and some are going to completely unoccupy themselves. (Some info (http://sopastrike.com/).) It will be interesting to see the effect.

Where's Teddy Roosevelt when you need him? Time to trust-bust some of these greedy media outlets.

Google is one of the worst with their 'thumbnails' that somehow start getting larger and larger over time. Their appropriation and placement in places I would never allow is offensive, pays me nothing and associates my work with products and people I would never, ever allow if I had the choice...

I think you do have the choice with google (and most big search companies), simply indicate to them, with a robots.txt file, that you don't want your stuff indexed.
