I've just acquired both a Unicolor roller and a Jobo 2820 Test Drum from a friend and I'm wondering if the diameter of the drum would cause any problems such as uneven development. I'm not completely sure that the agitation process would work as well. I don't have much experience with drum processing(Have been using tray)

If you are worried about the diameter of the drum and if it will work with the Uniroller, it will. The Unicolor drums are actually wider that the 2800 series drums.

As to even development, that should not be an issue as well. The real issue with the Uniroller is the length of the drum and if it will roll evenly with out rolling off the roller.

Thanks! I'll see how it works out.

The Unicolor roller is not wide enough for an Expert drum though.

You can do a relatively easy mod to correct this. You need a long but small screwdriver and a Dremel tool. Open the cover, remove the switch mechanism for the rotor, use the Dremel to cut a small window in the bottom of the plastic cover, then move the switch for the rotor to the outside of the cover. Screw the cover back on and friction hold the switch in place. Now you can manually change the rotation direction.

If you do a search you will find more details.

In regard to the drum rolling off:

I went to the hardware store and picked up some heavy, ~2 inch galvanized post fittings. I used a screw in flat base and screwed in a short piece of threaded fence post. I cleaned the oil off the post, sanded it down with fine grit paper. I put a post on each end of the drum so that it has a little play back and forth yet the drum is easily removable. The friction seems to have now effect on rotation or wear on the drum.
