Hi, I've just joined up as a LF first timer. I am waiting on a Linhof Tecknika III to arrive so I will be looking for loads of advice. My main goal is to do portraiture work with the Technika, with some landscape thrown in.

Advice I will need are:

1: Appropriate lens/es
2: Lighting and allied equipment for portraits
3: Best film
4: etc

I look forward to you sharing some of your extensive knowledge.

cheers

Colin

Again, quite a few of us around here!

Apparently, there's a bit of a get together here with some of the shooters over on APUG. I need to get to it one year…

Keep an eye out for film group purchases. Makes it a better (i.e. cheaper) option.

Welcome to the forum Colin. I used to live in Geelong but now I'm in Canberra. I used to go to the Melbourne get togethers. Lots of really knowledgeable people here.

Based on the number that go to Goldstreet Studio's "The Gathering" each year there's a lot more then we think. Not all LF use forums.
I'll be interested in a get together

I like the idea of an Aussie LF forum.
The general Aussie photo fora are enough to turn you off it for good.

There's a LF group section on APUG started by Pat in Qld that I'm a member of. There's only intermittent attendance, often going for a couple of weeks without a new post. There has been some really good info and some interesting threads though. I do think it'd be good to have a few more people join this group (Leaf shutters) to help spread the word.

Welcome Colin! Another Aussie-based LF photographer here. I've had a look at the APUG forums and yeah, seems that the Aussie group is pretty quiet.

If anyone is interested, I've thrown up an Aussie LF forum up on some free hosting (to test the water) - http://aussielargeformat.hostingdelivered.com

If not, no worries!

Welcome to the forum Colin. If you can get your hands on Kodak Portra 400 and/or 160 you will not be dissapointed. Good luck to you in your LF journey.
