Looking at the website for the nearby photo supply store (http://www.durys.com), it says:
"Dury's has been providing products and services to photographers since the beginning of photography. Established over 125 years ago, in 1882, we were one of the original eight Kodak dealers appointed by George Eastman himself."

If there were 8 original dealers, who/where were the other 7?
Are they still in business?

Fountain Drug (or Photo?) in Middletown, CT was one of the early Kodak dealers. I'm not sure about the timeline, but have been told that they had a very low dealer number.

Ocar Hirt, in Philadelphia.

The store closed in the early 70's

There was a store in South Bend, IN which claimed that George Eastman had set them up as one of Kodak's first dealers. They were always quite high priced and I bought a Bogen tripod from them at their going-out-of-business sale 20-ish years ago. I wish I could remember their name, but it's been too long.
