I have an Graflex Home Portrait 5x7 Camera that needs shutter service. The cloth is good, but the shutter does not fire at all times (sticks). Could anyone recommend a good repair shop for this type of camera? Thanks in advance. Sincerely, Mike C.

Have you tried a little light oil and firing it several times? On the pre-anniv Speed there is an exterior hole in the journal of the roller- dunno about your graflex, but that got my Speed, er, up to speed.

Fire it several times at the top tension, and smallest slit, then the next tension down, etc. This may loosen it up considerably.

Thanks again for all the replies. They led me to Frank Marshman in VA. who was also recommended by S.K. Grimes. Spoke with him today and he can repair it. Will post again with the quality of the work and price when I get the camera back in case anyone needs work done on their Graflex. All the best, Mike C.

Hello everyone, I found someone not far (Virginia) from me who was recommended by S.K. Grimes. I just got the camera back and it works like new again! The turn around was quick and he is a great guy to speak with as well. Price was reasonable too. I hope the moderators don't mind me giving the guy a plug, his name is Frank Marshman of Camera Wiz. If you need his number shoot me an pm. Sincerely, Mike C.

PS: I spoke with Bert and he no longer works on cameras, but was more than willing to send me an repair manual by email (didn't dare to try it myself).
