View Full Version : The "simple" skin for this forum is monochrome
Perhaps you already know this, but the default skin for this forum is blue-colored, but there is another one called "simple" which is entirely monochrome.
Because it is only black, white, and gray, it doesn't interfere with the neutral viewing of images that have color, whether they are merely toned monochrome or full-color images. Photos look more like they are matted, and on display in a gallery.
To try it, go to My Settings > Edit Options > Miscellaneous Options > Forum Skin and choose "simple". Then click on the "Save Changes" button at the bottom.

To those others like me that can't resist a good click, don't pick 'mobi'... No idea what it is but I had to use browser back and select another choice.
Richard
Me too: Mobi seems to be "not fully implemented" but 'simple' is great.
It's a treat to go back and view the image posting pages. Somehow, all the pictures have improved dramatically :)

But it is such a good name...
I figure if I leave LFPF blue, APUG is grey, and wet plate is like 'simple', so at least for now, I can easily tell them apart. But I think 'simple' is the best.
That's neat, Ken. Thanks.

indeed, it's a bit sparse in comparison and helps the text stand out as well

The white background of this forum always blows out my eyeballs. Would anyone else like a darker variant? I would be happy to code it myself. It should be a simple css. Mods let me know.

If that's all it is, sure. I'll discuss with the moderators.

I agree that the white is too much, and if I tone it down on my monitor, the images become drab. Perhaps if patrickjames could code it to a grey of similar tone to the blue? And a big thank you will be in order! :)

if you go to the "my settings", then in the bottom left of the page, you can choose the display settings.

+1
And, even better, if it could be coded to a selectable light gray tone, that'd be so much easier on the eyes in subdued lighting late at night.
