I have an omega D chassis with a dichroic II head on it. Is it possible to get a head that can do 5x7s? I used some 5x7 sheets for masking 4x5s and when I looked at the finished mask I thought "wow, what if I were shooting on one of these big sheets instead of 4x5?" I have some lenses that can just barely cover 5x7 so I figured I'd look into what'd it take to enlarge the larger sheets, too.

Yeah I was thinking that I could probably just make a head for the enlarger.
beseler had a kit to make a 8x10 out of a 4x5 MX enlarger you mite google it
to get some looks to see how it was made

The simple solution is to pick up an old 5x7 Elwood. When they can be found they're often very cheap or free. If you're handy you might be able to cobble up a way to put an Omega E 5x7 head on an Omega D 4x5 chasis. However, I suspect it wouldn't be easy.
I have an Omega 5x7 head I am not using. It was on an E series and is one of the round Omegalite designs. Send me a PM if interested.

Newer Omega E chassis are in essence modified D2 chassis. You can modify anything with the right tools, enough time & patience.
will an older thread ""Converting Omega E3 Cold Light Head to LEDs for $100 ""
if you can find a negative carrer then just make a box & then an LED
I can't find it right now but I read one on the nit that make a wooden box about 4" high to put in on a beseler 4x5 then a 8x10 negative carrer & then a coldlight
AND that is about all the beseler 8x10 kit is that you can put on the 4x5MX
SO it you can find a negative carrer & then make some thing like that LEDs
and play with how high to make a box to work for you 5x7
Now my Omega E head is on a D2 its only about 2" or so higher then the D2
so make a box 5" tall with a slot for your negative carrer to go in to at say 3"
then make the LEDs like ""Converting Omega E3 Cold Light Head to LEDs for $100 ""
then looks like you would be good to go
NOW I may just git this a try as I have a Durst 5x7 negative carrer & NO Durst
enlarger!! but anyway on ebad is a ARISTO 5X7 COLD LIGHT HEAD #280757971493
$249.00 Buy It Now if you wont to do it that way
the aristo cold light head that was sold for the e3, needs to be modified and "bagged"
with plastic all around because it doesn't really fit as if it were made specifically for the
omega. still, 100x better than the round omegalite.
the e3 (that i have) dwarfs a d3v by comparison.
i use a military d3v which is even bigger than the normal size too.
hey SeanEsopenko
did you buy that ARISTO 5X7 COLD LIGHT HEAD #280757971493

No I didn't. If I were to shoot 5x7 I'd be doing it quite a bit down the road. The thread was started due to curiosity because when I was holding some 5x7 sheets (used for masking 4x5) I thought "wow this is nice and big" with a big smile on my face :).
Can't make a switch for a while, though. And I'm not yet enlarging my 4x5 enough to start requiring a bigger negative.
