Does this back fit easily on a Cambo or Sinar 4x5? What is the exact image size? According to some sources, it's between 63x90 and 65x92 mm.

Dan, does that mean this is basically a useless piece of equipment?

Until proven otherwise, yes, unless attached to the camera it was made for.

Do you have it in hand or are you contemplating buying it? If the price is low enough, you might buy it just to find out what it is and whether you can find a use for it. I have a couple of doorstops -- doorstop is spelled L-E-N-S -- that I bought out of curiosity.

Dan, I agree completely - it's not much until it's proven in action. Yeah, I am eyeing one at the moment, not too expensive. Apparently these backs works with a Graflok plate. Could it mean it can be attached to many cameras then? What I can borrow for use are a Sinar F and a Cambo, don't know the model name, both 4x5. And a box of 160NC 70mm film.

Your back has an appetite for 70mm roll film and is powered from the original long roll camera it came off of. I'll look and see if I've got some info (maybe). I have Beattie Camerz cameras with 35 backs and all are boat anchors. Used to be used in school photography and high volume portrait studios like Olan Mills.

You most likely have a model 'D' automatic film magazine that was made for the 907 camera. I believe motor and solenoid brake are 115vac powered through camera. Magazine is from the 70's era.

Hi: Just happen to have one listed on e-bay at the present time. The image area is 63X92 and it weighs 3 pounds. I think it could serve a lot of folks with its film capacity of 15 feet. (exposures come to about 44 when factoring in leader and spacing between exposures.

I had a bunch of these backs many years ago (1990s). They took 70mm film. Bulk rolls of 70mm film would come up at times at the Houston Camera Show and I'd pick up a 50' roll of Tri-X once in a while.

Some of the backs did work on a Graflok back, some of them only mounted to a Beaty long roll camera, many of them needed to be plugged into their parent camera. A few had manual advance. All were of heavy metal construction.

Over time, I was able to sell off most of them at subsequent camera shows out by Houston's Hobby Airport.

The last bunch went to a local ariel photographer who thought he could adapt them to . . . . something.
