What type works the best - the crystal version or the powder - or does it matter?

I use nothing but crystal, but here is no reason the powder won't work. The crystal goes into solution quickly and easily.

I ordered 30 grams of the crystal from B&S yesterday to try out. Priced at $1.30/gm it was .40 cents lower than the lowest price I could find on the powdered version. Will I have to use a mortar and pedestal to crush it or will it dissolve in water?
