All,

B&H and Adorama are closed for a WHILE. I'm in CT and have am looking for Ilford Hypam fixer. Anyone have a suggestion for somewhere close by or online site close enough so it doesn't take more than a week since it has to ship ground? Freestyle takes around 10 days usually so that is out.

The fixer I have has solidified a bit and while I have filtered a bit, I have a ton of negs to develop from my last trip. It's a fairly new jug of fixer and the cap was on tight and in a cool dark place - only 8 months old. I've had fixer (opened) last 2 years before so this was unexpected.

Thanks,
Ron

Hunts, ah, I'll check them. Calumet was out of hypam yesterday. Thanks.

Where are you in CT? Symonds in East Hartford has darkroom supplies.

I order from Amazon when they're closed. Chemicals on Amazon usually ship from Calumet, I think, but it will say on the product page.

Camera Wholesalers in Stamford. Milford Photo in Milford. The dealer in Colchester should also have some.

If it is fixer that you need, and not Hypam specifically, a pool supply store will have both S. Thiosulfate and S. Sulfite.

It's not like they don't give plenty of notice. I can respect their religion and why they close a few times a year, and order ahead of time to avoid running low or out of supplies. If there is an immediate need, Freestyle can overnight items to you.

FWIW, Ilford Hypam and Rapid Fix are very similar products. Kodak Rapid fix is close as well. There are others as well, including the Formulary's TF-4 and TF-5 Alkaline fixers. All will give you excellent results. Possibly one of the suppliers above has one of the other alternatives if they do not stock Hypam.

Best,

Doremus Scudder

Helen,

I think it would have been more factual if you had written that any order you place either onilne or over the phone will not be shipped until Oct. 24th.

From the website
"Orders submitted to us during the Sukkot Holiday (Wednesday, October 12 at 12:30pm thru Thursday evening October 20 at 7:00pm) will be shipped Monday October 24th and will be delivered to you no later than Friday October 28th or earlier (depending on your Zip Code) Where necessary we'll upgrade the shipping method at our expense*
* This assurance is only for orders placed on Adorama.com website and is not applicable for orders with Super Saver Shipping option selected. These orders will ship October 24 but with no free upgrade assurance.

Please consider to upgrade the shipping option to assure quicker delivery time.

Orders Submitted Thursday evening October 20 after 7:00pm Thru October 22 when the Holiday ends will ship Monday October 24.

Thank You for your understanding, and for your business."

Brian,
I am just a little dense.

Ya, I resemble that remark at times too. It seems like every Jewish holiday we get "reminders" on the photo forums that planning ahead is a good and necessary thing.

You're right, it would have been - but at the time of writing I didn't know that they wouldn't be shipping out orders taken during the holiday.
