Does anyone know if the small orange single reel case made by Fishpond will take a Linhof lens board. Only information I have found are the exterior dimensions - 4" x 4" x 4.5".

If it doesn't, the little green cabela's reel cases do. I just bought one foe $9.99

I don't know that one. I use a Cabela's version of a "10 reel case" for lens storagebin my large backpack.

For a single lens case i would get a Photobackpacker lens case. Only $25 and they do a good job.

I assume you mean the one above? Not sure I would like the zipper placement for inserting and removing the lenses. Seem like the case would have to be somewhat oversized to be able to get the lens in and out and then it would scrape over the zipper. Do you find that it works ok?

That's the one. I don't think the zipper will be a problem. The case is a bit large for my 135 sironar but perfect for my 210 fujinon-w.
That said, i bought the case for a reel but needed a lens case on this trip.

I bought one of these($26.99):

http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops%C2%AE-Reel-Tote/product/37514/81467

It fits Tecnika-sized boards really well. I can fit (9) lenses on lensboards in it. Ranging from Copal 0 through Copal 3 sized shuttered lenses. Even accomodates Canham/Toyo 110x110 boards well too. I have all my lenses now on 110x110 boards, and I'm very happy with the outcome. It won't work for BIG plasmats(like a 360 Sironar/Symmar) though, they're too big.

A little off topic, but I have two of these and use them, sans dividers, for my 5x7 and 4x10 cameras. Nicely made cases.

A friend has a larger Fishpond cases and it fits Linhof-type boards fine. I'm pretty sure these will also, but I don't have hands-on experience with it. They are pretty common at good fishing stores. If you have one near you, take a lens and try it out.

Update: This answer is yes, a Linhof board will fit into these quite nicely. The lens length can be up to about 4" - the top and bottom are molded semi-rigid, the sides are just padded. The back has a loop handle. There is a small pocket on the inside lid. I got this one off of E*** for $16 including shipping and will probably get a couple more.

Thanks for the update and photo. That looks like a smallish lens.

Which size reel case is that and what is the largest lens that you think it would hold?

The photo is a 210mm Claron - I have an acme #4 shutter on a Linhof board and it fits OK - looks like any lens shorter than 4" long with fit nicely.

So you are aware:

Linhof makes lots of different sized boards:
Technika 23
Technika 45
Technika 57
Kardan

To get an answer you should let people know which boards. Also, boards for a Technika III 23 or 45 are different size then ones for later models. Same with some original Linhof monorail boards.

I am referring to 4x5 Linhof style boards.
