Hi, all.

I got a problem on the rear stand of my Sinar P 4x5, and I want to fix it myself. When I tried to slack of the screw in the control knob for tilt/swing, I can't find a suitable wrench to loose it.

The screw is shown in fig 1. At first I thought it's allen key type, but I tried the 0.9mm, 1.3mm and 0.05" allen wrenches, all of them are not for it. After examining it carefully, I found maybe it's not an allen key screw. The shape is more like the black part in fig 2, but I'm not sure.

Does anyone have the experience about this? I would rather repair it myself, not send it out.

Thanks in advance!

Matt

There should be a Sinar repair manual PDF here (http://www.image2output-support.com/downloads/sinar/View%20Camera%20Service%20Manuals/Sinar%20P.pdf).

Is it a spring pin?
Does it push out the other side?

Looks like a spring steel roll pin -- just like in the tilt knob of my Norma camera. Probably needs to be pressed out. Be careful as scoring the cylinder where the pin lives will result in a resulting poor fit upon reassembly. I would think long and hard about doing it myself.

Thank you Jim. I already had this manual. It says slack off that screw by a special tool (No. 109.05.526), but I can't find this tool.

Thank you! It look very like this one. I pushed from one end hardly and it wouldn't come out. I'll try another end.

Thanks, I'll try to find more information about the spring roll pin :)

If it's a screw, not pin or allen head screw could it be a "TORX" head. these are star shaped drivers with six points.

Get out the loupe and a light.

Ditto for Bob at Precision Camera Works. He worked for Sinar before opening his own shop. He also is the NA service for Arca-Swiss and he is excellent with Alpa, Noblex, even Widelux. Basically he does a lot of the stuff other places can't. Straight, honest good guy too.
