I have a case of Kodak 160VC ready load dated 10/2008 which has sat in the fridge all this time waiting for me to get off my but and going shooting.

Im going to do that this weekend, and was wondering if its safe to use? As developing and scanning here are expensive.

Daniel.

if its been refg'd since you bought it, it should be fine. Some more base fog(rate it at 100-125 asa/iso)

maybe some color shift, but that's why negs are nice :).

have fun

No, the address of my trash can is ... ;)

It is probably just fine.

If you are shooting something really important like a wedding I'd buy some fresh otherwise if I were in your shoes I'd go have fun.

I just noticed that ready load is over? Damn, I'll have to start learning the change tent.

I've also got some Polaroid 55 from 2007.

Scary stuff.

Safe? Absolutely, it will not harm you at all to use it. ;)

Probably fine from the fridge. I have some Agfa Optima 100 frozen since 1998. I think it'll be fine too since it's been hard frozen but I'll find out when I can shoot some of it.

The only thing to watch out for is moisture.
I just opened a box of Tri-X dated 1993 so I could do some worry-free tests on a new camera, but found that all the sheets of film were stuck together, the result of some water damage.

I had some Provia 100F from 2007 that was in the fridge and I shot it at box speed and had it developed normally and the slides came out fine.

Should be okay. I use lots of old film from my freezer, and it works great.

When it gets too old the emulsion lifts. The Type 55 is suspect so I would use it soon or sell it as-is to some poor dumb hipster.
