Has anyone tried this lens on 8x10? Results?

I ask because it has the same stated image circle as my Super-Angulon 121 (288), and the SA121 covers 8x10 with a little wiggle room, though according to the specs, it isn't supposed to.

Any replies appreciated.

FWIW, according to Bruce Wehman's website, it will cover when stopped down.

I can't imagine it would be that fantastic in the corners even if it did cover though.

Obviously, I have not tried this myself on my Wehman, as I don't have this lens. If anyone wants to come over (in Manhattan) and bring this lens, I'd be happy to try it out and pay for the film and dev for a test shot... just because I would be curious to see how it looks.

I've heard the SSXL 110mm will just cover 8x10 with no movements. If you're looking for an ultra wide angle lens for 8x10 it's hard to beat the Nikkor SW 120mm f/8. The Nikkor has a larger stated image circle and less fall off.

It will at least illuminate 8x10, and there will be no movement. Sort of the same experience as a 55mm Apo Grandagon on 4x5. You will need the center filter. Use of even 77mm filters will likely vignette, so a step-up ring and large filters will be necessary if you want to use them.

Cheers, Steve

This is great news for me. I just got one from a fellow forum member to replace my 120 Dagor for more movement on 5x7. The Nikon SW 120 would be nice, but the SA121 for £100 was a much smaller hit to the wallet and should work well for my use.
