Just wanted to let everyone know of a surprise savings I stumbled across. I purchased a Wacom Bamboo Pen & Touch for my laptop. Photoshop Elements came bundled with the tablet. The tablet and bundled software was $100 from Amazon. After I registered PS Elements I received an email offer from Adobe to upgrade to Photoshop CS5 for $299.

I purchased the upgrade which included PS CS5.1 64 bit and Adobe Bridge.

A deal hard to beat.

Might be wrong, but that store, and those prices look too good to be true.
It's not the real Adobe store, just one made to look like it.

Yep.Ed is right. I have a WOT widget that evaluates websites before letting the page completely load. Upon loading the link, WOT says the site has a "POOR" Reputation.

Do you have a link for the particular tablet you bought and does it mention the Photoshop Upgrade in the description? Because my wife would like that deal but we'd like to be sure.

Adobe has been offering that $299 upgrade to anyone registering Elements for several years. Once they have your e-mail address they will periodically e-mail that offer to you. (I've been getting those e-mails for years from Adobe)

Hi Frank,

Mention of PS Elements is down in the details. No mention of the CS5 upgrade. It was a pleasant surprise to me.

Neat little tablet BTW

As university staff, I can get CS5 for $200 at the bookstore...but they have been out the last two times I checked.

For what its worth I never found these tablets to be very useful, I have an older larger Wacom and the disconnect between the tablet and screen make it a PITA. Drawing for me best done on paper and scanned, retouching of photos best done with mouse.Wacom sells that Cintiq but it is a lot more $$ and paper, pencil, brushes or airbrush and paint get me a lot more mileage. As always, YMMV.

I agree that the older large Wacom tablets were a bear to use. They took up way too much space on the desk and did not map the screen well.

I really am happy with the size and how well the the tablet maps the screen with the Bamboo. I will take this over the touchpad or USB wireless mouse any day. It far more precise.

To really use the tablet, you need to stop using the mouse (remove it) and force yourself to adjust. After a day or three it will become natural and then it is a joy for Photoshop or any work that needs fine cursor control, pressure sensitivity, or even relief from Carpal Tunnel or other hand-wrist stresses.

I prefer the smaller tablets for control, the larger tablets work better for people doing actual illustrations. The less expensive ones like the Bamboo "only" have 512 levels of sensitivity versus 1024 levels with the pro (the pro models have nicer styluses and build quality too) (I doubt anyone can really tell the differences). The Bamboo is a great value and the build quality is quite good as well. You can always upgrade the stylus but the original one works fine for me.

Got my first ADB tablet in 1989 lol.

Well, I guess I'll consider getting a tablet again. I had an Intuous3 for a number of years, and it stopped working a few months ago. It had the buggiest software of any device I've had in my computer. Overall I liked it, when it worked, anyway.

Hmmm? Does it not work at all, or is it intermittent? You could try updating your video driver. Do other USB devices work on that port? If so, it could be either a software problem, a problem internal to the tablet, or a bad cable. You might try contacting Intuos to see if they can help you.

I have an Intuos-4 that works like a champ on both my XP (32 bit) and Win 7 (64 bit) machines. Once you get used to using the pen, a mouse will be like trying to work with a brick.

Should work flawlessly on a Mac at least....

I had it for years. It worked pretty well, but I had lot's of problems with plugins and other software not working well with it. Some of the plugins had special versions for people with Wacoms. Yes, I updated all the various drivers.... It doesn't work at all now.

It is more than likely that something underneath it had/has the bugs. In my experience, Wacom drivers have been the most stupidly solid I ever have used, across 20 years, about the same number of computers and four operating systems (Windows, Mac, Linux and SGI Irix).

These prices seem too good to be true. Are you sure the company is legit? I bought a copy of Microsoft Office Professional 2007 from one of these type of companies and it turned out to be a pirated copy. After about 4 months of use Microsoft sent me an email saying it was a bad password and I had 30 days to buy the real thing or they were going to shut mine down. It was a trial password I was sold.
