Here's a tip that just saved me from investing in a new tripod head: I have a Manfrotto 410 compact gear head for a couple of years. The tightness wa s always a little marginal with my Toyo CX, but recently it became a little too loose. I made a small hole in the center of each of the three circular joints and lo an d behold there was a hex bolt just waiting for an Allen key. To tighten the who le head to a condition better than when I bought it took about one minute. Thanks to everyone for all their help. It's nice to be able to give back.

Although my Manfrotto 410 works fine, I'll file this hint away should it loosen up. However, I don't understand how you made these holes. Did you drill them in the metal. How did you know where to drill?

And where exactly should these holes be drilled?

To clarify: There are three blue disc on the head one says "Made in Italy" One says Manfrotto 410 and the other - I scraped off already. They are only paper. You can make a hole in the center very easily with a screwdriver. That's where you tighten them. I hope this makes it clearer
